In an age of social media it is easy to post your feelings away instead of actually taking action. Most everyone can relate to clicking through Instagram stories and seeing statistics about how the world is going to explode in 2050 if no one changes how they are treating our earth and how there aren't going to be any animals left on our planet. Although bringing attention to the state of the environment is great, posting isn't making a tangible difference. Here are some easy changes that you can make in your daily routine to actually help the planet instead of filling peoples feeds with made up statistics.
1. Shop smart and sustainably
Apps such as "Good on You" analyze brands and how ethical they are.
Thrift and upcycle your clothes to limit the amount of clothing that goes into landfills
2. Eliminate single use plastic and save money
By shopping from stores such as "The Package Free Shop," you can easily buy reusable goods that will save you money and also eliminate plastic waste was landfills.
Buying food in bulk at the grocery store and using reusable grocery bags also eliminates waste.
3. Be smart about what you eat
Cows produce an incredible amount of methane that contribute to global warming and use a lot of water and natural recourses, so eliminating or cutting down on beef and dairy products is super environmentally friendly
Buying food from farmers markets is a great way to buy more sustainable and ethical foods (it also tastes so much better)
4. Invest in reusable containers
By bringing reusable cups to coffee shops and mesh bags to grocery stores you can save some plastic from ending up in landfills, and a lot of stores will give you discounts!
Taking a couple minutes out of your day to actually take action will make much more of a difference than reposting a video that claims to plant a tree for every like (spoiler alert: that's not how it works)!
